With my background in showjumping, coaching riders, and equine therapies, the importance of correct choice and fitting of Bits and Bridles has always been a factor to be considered.
The Biomechanics of a horse or pony can be negatively affected either straight away or over a period of time by incorrect Bits / Bridles and their fitting.
Before any adjustments or changes to Bits / Bridles, I look at the horse holistically from an Equine Therapist’s perspective:
Using only soft and gentle moves, some body checks are made to see if there are any areas of restriction or discomfort.
Also assessed are the structures of the head and mouth, and if necessary, through Iridology I will look into the eyes as they can also show valuable information
These checks help provide a solid foundation for any alterations or changes I may recommend.
